My first Sacred Heart song, "Sacred Heart, The Love Of Jesus", was inspired after a Year 2 student of mine, James Pham, looked very confused by the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. After explaining to James and the class I had enough material to start writing a Sacred Heart song. Unbelievably, that song sits permanently in my top 5 songs on Spotify!

In 2026 we felt the need for a new, catchy, upbeat Sacred Heart song. I did a Christmas concert in 2025 at Sacred Heart at Cabramatta and worked with one of the best choirs I've ever come across, led by the brilliant Noel Casicus. I had the idea of working with them to create a new Sacred Heart song.

In February 2026 I sat with Noel and a few members of the senior choir and we tossed some ideas around. We came up with some words and I also had gathered other ideas from my visits to Sacred Heart schools. "Lift Up Your Hearts" is the motto of Sacred Heart College in New Town, Tasmania, so I wanted to include that.

Then it was over to my great mate and chief collaborator, Drew Lane, to come up with the music. And he delivered, including the "accidental hook", "Ay-ay-ay"!

I returned to Sacred Heart Cabramatta in March 2026, where we first recorded the vocals and then the video clip. Thanks to Drew, Bernadette for the cover and backgrounds, to my former student, now principal of Sacred Heart, Julie Straub, REC Francine Guajardo, and to Noel Casicus and the fabulous Senior Choir!
