"Rise" by Jane Mitchell, music by Drew Lane

Jane wrote the words to this song as part of the response to the Sale Diocese's Pastoral Plan. It began with a process called "Our Stories, Our Church, Our Mission" where parishes, schools, pastors and teachers considered the needs of the local church moving forward.

From Jane: "Using the theme of our stories (verse 1), our church (verse 2) and our mission (verse 3), I wrote Rise to be the theme of the Assembly and moving forward as church. The chorus was based on a beautiful prayer written by a fellow St Michael's liturgist, Mike Hansen, in which he called upon the Holy Spirit of Wind and Fire to work through us. It has been widely embraced and sung across the diocese"

A powerful recessional song at any Mass but especially significant for Pentecost and Confirmation.
